The WebMasterP Computer Saga
Page 3 - Another Crisis
One good thing about my computer was that it was quiet. The
hard drive was quite, everything was quiet. Everything was
running smooth, I couldn't play the best games (obviously,
or even the ok games), though we could play StarCraft!!
The only problem is that it takes up a lot of our hard drive
space, over 10%!!
Ok, so you're wondering what the next crisis is? Well, I was
on the computer one day and all of a sudden the computer got
REALLY quiet. I was thinking, "WOOOHOOO!! Now my
computer is actually kinda cool, it's the most noiseless
computer in the world!" So, I went about making the
web pages and graphics as if a blessing from God had finally
came my way but then..... FREEZE!!!!! What, my computer
semi-froze up a lot but, not like this! I couldn't even
Ctrl+Alt+Del! Well I turned it off. Then back on, thinking,
"Stupid Bill Gates, why didn't he take time to make Windows,
dumb thief!" Well then a little after it finished loading
up, FREEZE!!!! Noooooo....!! I said, "This computer needs a
rest," and turned if off and watched TV for a couple hours.
I came back it stayed on a little longer but then it froze again.
At first I thought it was a virus, I had McAfee Network Associates,
and it was updated; I figured someone made a custom virus just
for me. One nice thing about this computer is that it came with an
emergency disk to format your hard drive and bring your computer
back to the way it was when you first bought it. I started backing
Then an idea popped into my head. I realized, after several days,
of trying to get my computer to work that the longer I left my
computer off the longer it stayed on the next time I turned it on!
Longer off time meant longer time to cool!! Duh, the problem was
heat!! My cooling fan was busted. Duh! I was so pissed because
I had already re-installed Windows and messed up all my configurations.
At the same time I was happy that I hadn't formatted my hard drive
before I figured out the real problem!
Finally figuring this out I went 20 miles to the closest computer
store and bought a 486 CPU fan a screwed it onto my socket 7
heat sink. You might be thinking that I'm dumb for doing that
because a 486 fan is not the right size for a socket 7 but,
believe it or not, that was the size of the fan that came with
the computer. (I will never buy Acer again).
