Everglide Gaming Mat

It's been almost exactly two years since my last review of an Everglide product (the GIGANTA). In those two years, a lot of things have changed, including Everglide's product line (which is now very vast). But, this review is about Everglide's new gaming mats. I say mat for two reasons: 1) That's what Everglide is calling them, 2) They are mats.

So, what is so great about these new mats? Well, the reasons aren't obscure at all. The gaming mats are very smooth (regarding mouse sliding), are very thin and flexible, have great mouse traction, are sticky (don't slide on table), and are available in cool patterns/designs.

Roughly Equal Area
Roughly Equal Area

In the above picture I state that area of the pads are roughly equal. One might actually argue that the new gaming mats have more useable area. This is due to the fact that the outside edges of the Everglide GIGANTA (and Attack Pad) are beveled.

Pretty Bendable
Pretty Bendable

These pads are very bendable, but not like rubber! You could crease the pad very easily if you bent it to far. You'll notice the entirely black rubber bottom of the pad in the picture with the pad bent. This entirely rubber bottom makes for very permanent placement. With just slight downward pressure, this pad is very hard to make slide. This should be good for you fraggers who spaz out when you're surrounded. :)

Upon very close inspection, the surface of this pad is made up a lot of little hollow circles (like a lower case "o"). This surface works very, very well. I actually like it better than my GIGANTA. The mouse slides better on the very small plastic circles and seems to move smoother. The difference is very small; I had to move the mouse on both pads a couple of times to be sure I liked the traction better. Some might be wondering if this is the same thing as the 3M Precise Mousing Surface, it's not. The surface is different, and, I feel, more accurate and smooth.

Overall, this pad is a definate improvement over Everglide's previous pads. The best part of this product is the price. For $9.95 you can get any one of their (currently) 5 cool designs. You can check out the gaming mat page at Everglide to take a look at the 4 other styles. While this product isn't going to change the face of technology as we know it; it is going to give gamers a new, great option for gaming pads and I have to respect ingenuity.
