The Nexus NX-4000 is a solid power supply. Not only did it perform well in the tests, but it has managed to remain stable in my server for over a month how. It does all this while remaining whisper quiet in idle mode. This is achieved by running a low RPM fan with several large heatsinks. This method has shown to be reliable throughout my testing and is standard practice for makers of quiet power supplies. Also, I think it is important to mention that I have yet to hear the power supply come out of idle mode (the PSU has been running in a room that is usually about 23 to 24° C).

Can I find any faults with this PSU? Not really, at least not physically. The one fault I can find is the price. The sponsor of this review, EV-web.at has the NX-4000 list at 120.00 Euros, which is $140.33 USD.

That is quite expensive for a power supply, in general; but, when you consider what you are getting for the price, it might justify the purchase. For $140.33 USD you get a rock solid PSU that runs at a noise level I could not hear unless I physically stuck an ear within in a few inches of the unit in a very quiet room. The auto switching feature is handy and there is a wealth of useful power connectors to use (like the three strands that have individual 4-pin Molex connectors); but not so many that it creates excessive wiring clutter.

After my extensive use of this product, I can say this: the Nexus NX-4000 would make a perfect power supply for any user who wants a very solid performing power source that runs at next to inaudible noise levels. Of course, you have to be willing to pay the price, but that is usually something that comes with quality products. You just have to use your common sense to decide if this level of quiet and stability are something you require. I would say it is easily one of the best PSUs I have ever used. That fact alone makes the NX-4000 deserving of my editor's choice award; only the price brought down my opinion of this otherwise fantastic unit.
