Zalman ZM-RS6F 5.1 Real Surround Sound Headphones
Page 1 - Introduction, Packaging and Style
As demand for high-performance audio merges into the mainstream, 5.1 surround sound is now considered a mandatory item for a great many consumers. With companies such as Logitech, Creative, and Klipsch selling 5.1 surround sound systems, it is easy to find a package that satisfies various needs. However, there are times when the surroundings do not permit the user to enjoy their surround sound system without disturbing others. One could buy a pair of ordinary headphones, but they obviously will not perform as well, especially in computer games where reactions depend on spatial sounds.
This may be a bit surprising, but Zalman, known for their silent cooling products for computer, have stepped into the audio industry by releasing a set of 5.1 surround sound headphones. Thanks to Zalman, I will be taking a look at the ZM-RS6F 5.1 Real Surround Sound Headphones which will hopefully be anything but silent when producing audio for the user.

Installation Instructions

The dome-like package the headphones are packed in is very attractive and allows the user to admire the compact style of the unit. Included with the headphones is also an instruction manual with the product’s specifications. The instruction manual clearly illustrates how to properly connect the headphone’s three jacks under several different situations. Each of the three headphone jacks are gold plated, which results in better conductivity and overall sound quality. One thing that surprised me was that there was no volume controls on the headphones; adding one could definitely make it more convenient, as the user might not have to move as much to change volume.

Three Headphone Jacks
|
The headphones's compact style make it convenient to carry around. Upon unfolding the headphones, each ear piece is covered with half an inch of padding, along with a mesh that covers the three tiny speakers inside which are angled to deliver perfect sound flow. The ear padding can be easily removed and cleaned by twisting it off. Pads are also situated at the top of the headphone to ensure that all parts of the head are comfortable. The cord length (9.8 feet) is also more than enough for most users, especially if it is being used in conjunction with their computer. The weight of these headphones are acceptable considering that each side encompasses 3 speakers. When worn on the head the unit definately does not feel heavy; the padding helps reduce this effect.
